Lineup updates itself

Lineup now checks for new versions in the background and installs them in place, so you no longer download a new disk image for each release. Every update is signed, and Lineup installs only the real thing. You can still check right away from the menu bar icon with Check for Updates….

Choose your drag-to-snap key

Snapping by drag no longer has to use Shift. In Settings, record a modifier, another key or a key combination as the drag bind. Lineup now waits for the window itself to move before snapping, so dragging on a canvas in a design app no longer starts a snap. Settings were also rebuilt with native macOS controls.

Allow Accessibility once

Lineup is now notarized by Apple and signed with a stable identity. macOS opens it without the unidentified developer warning, and keeps your Accessibility permission across updates instead of asking again each time.

Runs natively on every Mac

Lineup is now a universal app, running natively on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs.

A welcome on first launch

New users see a short welcome that explains what Lineup does and why it needs Accessibility before macOS asks for it. If you declined the permission, Grant Accessibility… in the menu now opens the right System Settings pane.

Improvements
  • Design A new app icon and menu bar mark, plus consistent icons in the menu.
  • Drag to snap Your first drag shows a hint that edges fill half a zone and corners a quarter.
  • Accessibility The shortcut recorder and its clear buttons work with VoiceOver.
  • About The Lineup name in the About window is no longer cut off at the bottom.
Fixes
  • Editor Dragging a divider moves only the two zones beside it; every other line stays where it was.
  • Drag to snap Turning drag to snap off is remembered after you quit and reopen Lineup.
  • Stability An app that reports unexpected window data can no longer crash Lineup.
