Lineup 2.0: Zones, Cycler and Hyperkey in one app
Lineup is now a set of tools in one menu bar app. Each tool has its own page in Settings, with a switch at the top to turn it on or off:
- Zones: everything Lineup did before, from layouts to drag to snap. It stays on.
- Cycler: switch between apps and their windows with keyboard shortcuts, including app groups and reverse cycling.
- Hyperkey: turn Caps Lock, or another key, into a Hyper key (Control + Option + Shift + Command), so one key drives your other shortcuts.
Cycler and Hyperkey start off, so the update never takes over new shortcuts or your Caps Lock. Your layouts, shortcuts and permissions carry over, and a short What's New window shows the changes once.
A new Settings window
Settings now has a sidebar with General, each tool and About. Shortcuts show as key caps, a combo that's already taken names the tool using it, and the Zones page has Open Layout Editor…, so you can reach the editor with the menu bar icon hidden.
Coming from Cycler
If you used the separate Cycler app, Lineup imports its shortcuts and Hyper Key setup and offers to show the old app so you can remove it. Lineup asks for Input Monitoring only when you turn Hyperkey on.
Improvements
- Zones A zone shortcut beyond your current layout is marked "(not in current layout)" and works again when the layout grows.
- Settings The shortcut recorder shakes when it can't use a key, so a refused combo is visible on a muted Mac.
- Overlays Overlays stay dark and readable on a light desktop, and appear without animation when Reduce Motion is on.
- About The About window follows Dark Mode while it's open.
Fixes
- Updates Lineup opens normally after updating from 1.9; a crash at launch on the 2.0.0 update is fixed.
